Excellent offers on flights to Tobago and a Trinidad and Tobago hotel
Trinidad and Tobago are the two most southern of the Caribbean
Islands and are known throughout the island as ‘TNT’. Although
the two islands offer a contrast of personality and experience
together the two islands give an insight into what to expect on
a holiday in the Caribbean. Trinidad is the most up market of
the two islands, with a cosmopolitan atmosphere the island is
culturally diverse. Because of this the island is very vibrant
and this is also reflected in the biggest attraction here – the
annual Carnival. The locals here spend the whole year preparing
for this large carnival in February, which is a blaze of colour
and calyspso music and dance; food, sparkling costumes, vibrant
colours and steel bands draw you into the event.
The capital of Trinidad is Port of Spain, due to the settlement
of the Spanish until 1797. Today the capital is alive with modern
towers, colonial houses and gothic cathedrals as well as Hindu
temples and the vibrant markets and bazaars are a must see. However,
if you are wanting a more relaxing holiday in Trinidad you can
head for the stunning north coast or the mountainous regions inland.
There is also a daily ferry to the smaller and more relaxed sister
island of Tobago that is well-known for its unspoiled Caribbean
dream-like paradise. It has many tropical, palm-line Tobago
beaches, lush rain forest as well as dazzling coral reefs.
It also boasts a large amount of tropical birds, butterflies,
plants and shrubs that can inspire any nature-lover. The most
famous of the animals on the island is the giant leatherback turtle
that nests on the large stretches of beach on the north of the
island. On the south of the island is the Atlantic, which washes
along the coast, scattered with fishing villages, whilst the interior
of the island is home to the world’s oldest rainforest reserve.
