Playa de las Americas is Tenerife's largest
and most popular resort. It was purpose-built for tourists and
so provides many facilities for all age ranges. These include
shops, bars and restaurants, as well as the gorgeous sandy beaches
and the many water sports that you can take part in. This makes
Playa de las Americas a perfect resort on which to enjoy
packages holidays in Tenerife.
The resort is located on the south of the island and close to
the Reina Sofia Airport. Since the resort 30
years ago it has grown massively, and now has three areas, all
of which have excellent facilities. The original resort is the
Playa de las Americas, and more recently San
Eugenio and Toviscas have been built.
There are six beaches in total, three of which are man-made. They
are all made up of dark volcanic sand, which still has a gorgeous
texture. However, these beaches can get crowded within the summer
season. All six beaches are linked by a long promenade, which
is lines with shops, bars and restaurants, making it easy to spend
the whole day beside the beach.
There is a mini train, which runs hourly, and that travels around
the resort stopping at many different places. There are also many
free buses which allow visitors to enjoy many more the entertainment
venues, shops and sports facilities on their Playa de
las Americas holidays.
Aquapark
This aqua park not far from Playa del las Americas, and would
make a great day away from the beach. As well as the water rides,
slides and pools this aqua park also boasts a dolphin show with
the dolphin lake, as well as a children’s are. There are also
restaurants, shops and snack bars, which means that you are able
to stay all day. There is a free shuttle bus that leaves both
Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas and only takes 5mins
to get to the park.
Los Cristianos
Next to Playa del las America is Los Cristianos, which boasts
the Tenerife Zoo and the Eagles Park. It is a perfect day trip
away from the beach that would entertain the whole family.
Parque Nacional de las Canadas del
Teide
Mount Teide rises nearly four metres from a gigantic volcanic
crater, which is itself 48km in circumference. The cable car takes
you to this extinct volcano. However, you are also able to walk
across the mountainous ground, which is worth the effort. The
view from the top is stunning, as you are able to see Gran Canaria,
La Palma, Gomer and El Hierro.
