Named after the white sandy beaches which it contains, Playa
Blanca is on the south of Lanzarote Island. Playa Blanca was once
an old fishing village and the resort has now grown around the
ancient buildings that still remain there. However, although it
has grown, the resort is still quiet and pleasant as it retains
its old fishing nature, unlike many other holiday resorts.
There are many cafes, restaurants and bars adorning the promenade
of Playa Blanca. However, the main attraction is the nearby beaches.
Some are close-by and some of the best in the Canary Islands,
such as those at Papgayo are just a short bus ride away. The resort
is perfect for couples and families who want to soak up the sun
and enjoy this pleasant resort.
Flights to Playa Blanca are generally inexpensive,
and there is a range of budget holidays to Lanzarote.
There is also accommodation to suit every pocket from
Playa Blanca villas, to luxury and budget hotels. This
makes this stunning holiday in Lanzarote available
to everyone.
Las Coloradas
If you want a day away from the beach, and to explore the culture
of the island, this is the perfect place to visit. La Fortaleza
del Aguila or Las Coloradas is the first settlement of Franco-Norman
invaders, and is still reasonably intact, giving the visitor a
full impression of what the settlement would have looked like.
Papagayo
Papagayo is where the most stunning beached are on the island,
and they lie not far from the marina. Accessed via tracks, and
with a small entrance fee, there are many beaches to choose from.
These gorgeous sandy beaches are worth the effort, as you are
able to enjoy a more secluded and relaxing day on the beach. The
beaches are kept in their natural state, and are virtually untouched,
meaning that they are kept beautiful. This does mean however,
that public facilities are limited. If you just want to look at
these beautiful beaches, there are daily boat trips that take
you to this part of the island.
