Bargain Nerja holidays
Nerja is located next to the coast of the Costa del Sol,
and boasts gorgeous white beaches and clear waters. It is also
close to Malaga, and is a brilliant place in which to explore
Spain. Costa del Sol is a pleasant location for everyone, as there
is many opportunities to get involved in activities such as the
many water sports, but also many quiet places in which to escape.
One of these places is the stunning mountain range called Sierra
Almijara. It a brilliant place in which to escape for
a peaceful day away from the beach and the resort. Another day
can be spent in the old part of Nerja town centre
which still contains its charm with narrow, cobbled streets, and
the whitewashed houses.
The heart of Nerja is the stunning Balcón de Europa,
the "Balcony of Europe", which is a walkway along the
edge of a magnificent cliff, which was once the site of the Moorish
castle. From this location there are gorgeous panoramic views
of the Mediterranean and the beaches, as well as the blue mountains.
In this area there are also many cafes and restaurants in which
to enjoy the local food. As well as this there is the opportunity
to hire a horse-drawn carriage to explore this romantic part of
the town.
The 17th century Church of El Salvador towers
in the centre of Nerja. It is built in the style
of the baroque and Moorish periods, and is a brilliant place in
which to explore the culture of the area. The beautiful Gardens
of Capistrano Playa, are also a pleasant place in which to take
a short stroll, as they lead towards the beach.
Situated just 3km from Nerja are the spectacular caves,
which contain archaeological treasures such as the cave paintings
which are over 20,000 years old. One of the vast natural caverns
has been transformed into a concert venue, where there are many
concerts during the summer.
The local cuisine of Nerja includes specialities
such as De La Doncella (red mullet) and wherever you go you are
also able to order sausage, eggs and chips!
