The ancient town of Malia, which is situated
on the north coast of Crete, has been a popular
destination for young people for many years. The 18-30 year olds
come every year to enjoy the lively nightlife, and the lazy days
soaking up the sun on the sandy beach. However, there are many
attractions based around the history of the area, such as the
Palace of Malia, which are rarely frequented by the younger people
who prefer to enjoy the waterpark, which is around a 15min walk
away. South of the resort is a small path into the mountains,
which provides a stunning walk to the pretty village of Krasi.
There are also many daily activities in the resort including watersports.
Alongside these facilities, there are many restaurants, bars and
clubs. The Neon Strip, which is the main street of the Malia resort,
also boasts many shops and kiosks, all catering for the tourist
market. The most alluring feature of Malia is
the golden beach, which also boasts gorgeous blue seas.

Palace
of Malia
The Palace of Malia is the third largest in Crete, and stretches
over 7500 sqm of land in the valley near Hersonissos. The palace
is close to the sea, which must have been important for its inhabitants
and their daily lives. First built around 1900BC, which was a
time when there was much development from the whole population.
In 1650 it was destroyed, just as many palaces were around that
time, and was rebuilt instantly.
Beaches
The Malia coastline is vast, and provides a large variety of beaches.
All the beaches have gorgeous sand and blue waters, as well as
providing many facilities, such as watersports.
