Kemer is a purpose-built resort that offers
a warm atmosphere and stunning beaches. Because of its nature,
Kemer provides a large range of facilities for holidaymakers,
as well as providing a beautiful setting. It was once a small
seaside town situated in a valley full of pines. It is surrounded
by the well-known Taurus Mountains, and possesses a small marina
and promenade, which makes for a beautiful evening walk down to
the beach. Along the beach are many hotels, all within keeping
of the landscape, as well as many coves and bays.
If however you want a bit more local flavour than Kemer
has to offer, there are many brilliant places to enjoy
a day trip. One of which is the Yoruk Park, which provides an
insight into the Nomads that once inhabited the area. The ancient
sites of Phaselis and Olympos also help visitors to envisage ancient
life is this beautiful setting. Also close by are The Fires of
Chumaera that are natural vents releasing burning methane, which
was once used as sailor’s lights. Neighbouring resorts Beldibi
and Antalya also provide many facilities for holidaymakers, that
are sure to keep you entertained for the day. There are many

Beaches
As with many coastal resorts, Kemer offers a wide range of beaches.
The main one is predominantly shingle, and is lined with bars,
restaurants and cafes. There is also a sand and shingle beach
nearby, that offers boast trips. However, if you go outside of
the town there are many inlets and coves to explore, which provide
you with a little more privacy.
The Ruins of Phaselis & Olympos
These ruins are becoming more popular, although they haven’t been
well-known before now. These historical ruins are around a 2hr
drive from Kemer, and provide the perfect day out. The Pahselis
ruins, are set on a peninsula that boasts panoramic views, and
lies at the foot of Mount Tahtali, also known as Mount Olympus.
These ruins date back the the 6th century BC, and visitors are
stil about to see the agoras, baths, the theatres as well as an
acropolis. On the southern side of Mount Tahtali is the ruined
city of Olympos, of which there are many tales.
The Yoruk Park
This pleasant park is located within Kemer, and is popular for
its beautiful gardens. It is also well-known for its display of
the Nomadic life in Turkey. Visitors are able to walk round the
displays and meet actors dressed in Nomadic costumes, some of
which may offer you some traditional Turkish delicacies.
