Unlike other Caribbean islands Grenada has less of a French influence,
although place names and surnames as well as the colloquial language
that has prominent a French sound. The French influence also comes
through the spicy foods as well as the French architecture from
that has survived since the 1700s. The Islands culture has also
been heavily influenced by its African roots, but there is also
a large Indian influence especially within the cusine – rotis,
Indian sweets and curries are a main part of the cuisine here.
Aside from the large food culture Grenada is also well known for
its music, dance and festivals that are a prominent part of the
calendar here. Soca, calypso and reggae are amongst the music
that helps get the annual carnival into action.

Grenada attractions
Mt.
Carmel Waterfall
Mt. Carmel Waterfall is the tallest waterfall in Grenada, and
is also known as Marquis Falls. These Royal Mt. Carmel Falls have
two cascading falls that drop around 70 feet into the large pools
below. The falls are largely established and are easily accessible
by road – perfect for a day away from the Grenada beaches.
Grand
Anse Beach
Grand Anse Beach is located on the western side of the island.
It is the most famous beach and largest tourist area on Grenada.
It offers many watersports and scuba dive centres as well as a
host of bars and restaurants close by. Although it is a central
area in Grenada there is still always plenty of space to spread
yourself out on the sand. There is two miles of stunning white
sand and crystal blue waters on which the surf is gentle and the
views are stunning. There are many palm and sea grape trees that
provide shelter when the sun gets too hot.
Mount
Saint Catherine
Mount Saint Catherine is a stratovolcano and is also the highest
mountain on the island. It is the youngest of the five volcanoes
that structure the island, and has a horse-shoe shaped crater
that is open to the east. The volcano also has many lava domes
within it, and is well worth a visit.
