This now vibrant resort was once a sleepy fishing village, but
now plays host to many visitors, especially throughout the summer
period. These visitors come to Corralejo not
only for the sun and the sandy beach, but also
for its resort centre. Amongst all this activity, however, much
of the town still boasts its old style buildings as well as the
picturesque port. This promenade that runs along the water has
many restaurants and bars, which are set within the ancient buildings.
The restaurants within Corralejo offer a wide range of international
cuisine, from fish and chips to Mexican fajitas and curries. There
are also however, more local and authentic Canarian places which
offer local dishes, which include the local seafood.
Within the resort there is also many shops, especially running
along the main street. From these shops you can purchase many
souvenirs as well as clothes, cosmetics and other amenities you
may need.
A short and easy walk from the town is the miles of sand dunes,
which are within the resorts nature reserve. These are surrounded
by golden beaches, which are a perfect place to relax away from
the busy resort centre.
If it is excitement you are looking for however, there are also
many activities on offer within the resort. There are many water
sports, as well as boat trips to see the sea life, and a ferry
that runs across to Lanzarote. If you would prefer to keep your
feet on the ground, there are also many activities on offer such
as jeep safaris, tours of the island by foot by bicycle or even
by motorbike!
Accommodation within Corralejo is vast, and there is always something
to suit everyone’s budget. There are luxurious hotels as well

Sand
Dunes
Just outside the town lies Corralejo’s nature reserve that is
within these sandy dunes. They stretch along the east coats for
miles, and provide gorgeous sand on which to spend the day. They
are also perfect for their peace and pleasant surroundings, as
due to their reserve status, building is prohibited in this area
the Casa de los Coroneles
This historic area of La Oliva has the Casa de los Coroneles (Colonels'
House) within it. This house is a gorgeous example of the nobilities’
architecture and is an important monument on the island.
