Located in the famous region of Alicante on the Costa
Blanca, Calpe is steeped in history
and culture – offering more than many of the purpose built resorts
that are located in Spain. Once a fishing port, this old town
has managed to keep the pace with its ever growing tourist industry.
The old town area still remains intact, with narrow streets and
medieval buildings. However in contrast is the high-rise hotels
and the newer buildings which house some of the shops, cafes and
bars. With a climate that is near to perfect, it has naturally
become a hotspot for those seeking the sun. Calpe also offers
an ideal location next to the sandy beaches as well as many attractions.
For those on holiday in Calpe there are many
types of accommodation on offer, from luxury hotels to apartments
and villas, there is something to suit everyone in Calpe,
Spain. Apartments holidays are very
popular, particularly with groups of people and families, and
there are many to chose from when on holiday in Calpe.
Flights to Costa Blanca are also generally inexpensive,
making this beautiful resort available to everyone.
The beaches are of the highest quality in Calpe, and there are
many other facilities in the resort, such as bars, restaurants
and shops. The restaurants are particularly well-known for their
international cuisine. Many holidaymakers come to Calpe and never
leave again, so there is a wealth of nationalities and culture
and as a result a mixture of different restaurants ranging from
Chinese to Italian as well as English and Spanish!
Oltá
Oltá is the hilltop close to Calpe, which gives amazing
views over the resort and the distant coastline. It gives you
the fullest impression of the resort and its beauty. It is a wide-topped
mountain that stretches up and dominates the landscape behind
the resort. From the mountain you can also see the green landscape,
which is a beautiful backdrop to a walk up to the top – if you
have any energy left to look out over it!
Peñon
The Peñon, a high rock which overpowers the skyline from
the beach, is now a nature reserve. Although it may look steep
and dangerous, a walk to the top is relatively easy, which should
only take around an hour. A tunnel carved through a cliff takes
you on easy pathways, however, you may still need to scramble
up some parts of the hill. The view from the top is amazing with
the luscious green landscape on one said, and the crystal blue
waters on the other.
