Located on the south-east corner of Cyprus,
this old fishing village is now a hotspot for those wanting sun,

and cheap flights to Ayia Napa, it is easy to

for its clubs and bars, which are world-famous. Ayia Napa holds
a vibrant atmosphere, especially during the evenings and well
into the night. Ayia Napa’s beaches are golden
and their waters warm and blue, and there are plenty to be found.
As well as this there is a large cultural heritage to be found
in this club capital – the Venetian monastery is beautifully decorated,
and has a sycamore tree which is at least 600 years old. The small
harbour, which is still used for fishing, is now lined with shops
and restaurants as well as the colourful fishing boats themselves.
Close to Aiya Napa is Prtaras, which also boasts
some superb beaches, the most famous is Fig Tree Bay. Aiya Napa’s
most famous beach is Nissi Bay and Nissi Beach, which are a walk
away. Cape Greco located on the east is popular for those who
are willing to jump from the high rocks into the sea. Near Cape
Greco there is also Konnos Bay which has a small café and
speedboat hire, perfect for a day trip.
Aiya Napa is full of a wide range of accommodation, from luxury
hotels and self-catering as well as many package deals.

Our
Lady of the Forests
Located in the centre of Ayia Napa is the beautiful and famous
monastery. It was one of the last buildings erected by the Venetians,
and is made completely of cut-rock. It is built over a cave, in
which there is a symbol of the Virgin Mary, which was found by
a dog walker within recent years. This monastery was founded in
the 16th century by a nobleman’s daughter who came to Ayia Napa
looking for seclusion after he would not let her marry. She built
two churches at this time, one a Catholic church and the other
Orthodox, both are now housed under this one roof.
Nissi
Beach
Nissi Beach is the most well-known in the area, and throughout
the island. Its white sands stretch out and the blue waters are
warm within the summer months. However, because of its beauty
it can get busy in the summer period. Just off shore there is
a small rocky island, which you are able to walk to, as you cross
a sand bar – however your feet will get wet! The island itself
is made of sharp rocks, so shoes are also essential. The beach
itself also provides many water sports, which are perfect if you
want some fun on the beach.
Ayia
Napa Festival
This festival takes takes places annually in Septmeber. It includes
folk art displays, as well as musical and theatrical performances,
as well as many displays of the Cypriot culture. It is the perfect
place to learn and be involved in the culture of Cyprus.
