Neighours with both Bodrum and Kusadasi, this stunning resort has many visitors every year. Unlike its lively neighbours however, Altinkum is more peaceful and is ideal for those looking for a relaxing beach holiday. An Altinkum holiday is also perfect for families, with the beaches boasting fine sands and clear blue waters. These beaches, of which there are three, are the main attraction in Altinkum. There is the picturesque harbour at one end of the beach, and a rocky cliff at the other. Although the resort is quiet there are many facilities, such as watersports, as well as restaurants, bars and cafes. If you would also like a day away from the beach, Altinkum tis ideally location for two stunning sight seeing attractions – The Temples of Apollo in Didyma, and the large Roman ruins at Ephesus.
Temple
of Apollo at Didyma
This temple is the main attraction for guests staying in Altinkum
and Didim. This temple dedicated to Apollo during the Roman period
is also within a short walk of more ruins at Milestos and Priene.
Ephesus
Just less than two hours away is Ephesus, which is Turkey’s main
tourist attraction. It is one of the most stunning examples of
ancient history of the area. Many companies offer trips to Ephesus,
including those to the Virgin Mary’s House, the local town of
Selcuk and its castle, as well as Ephesus. It makes a perfect
day out away from the beach.
Beaches
The beaches in Altinkum are in three sections. The first beach
is the primary one, as it has the best access from the resort.
The long promenade curves around the bay and along this beach,
with many shops and restaurants. Behind some of the bigger hotels
lies the second beach, which is small but offers perfect sand
and sea. This beach has many of its own restaurants and cafes,
and is ideal for a day on the beach. A little further round the
bay lies the third beach, which is located in a small cove. All
beaches offer golden sands and clear water, and are perfect for
a relaxing day.
