Albufeira is Portugal’s most popular resort, which became prosperous
in the 1960s. From the old town, whose main income used to reside
in fishing, the resort stretches both east and west. It provides
miles of golden beaches and sandy coves, and many chances to relax
on holiday. Portugal caters for families with young children as
well as people young and old visit every year, as the resort offers
facilities for everyone.
Hotels in Albufeira provide many types and standards of accommodation

more luxurious standards of accommodation. As well as providing
accommodation for every pocket the resort also has amenities for
every person. From the charm of the narrow alleyways in which
you can enjoy a quiet drink, to the ‘strip’ that is lined with
many cafes, restaurants and bars and is lively all day long.
The fishermen still carry on their work whilst many holiday makers
flock onto the beaches and it is this beach which attracts many
people every year.
However, there are also many sightseeing opportunities such as
the Virtual Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery and
a museum which displays the famous Ming ceramics. Also inland
there large stretches of countryside, lined with almond, fig and
orange trees, in which you can spend a peaceful day

Zoomarine
This is a brilliant place to come if you want a day away from
the beach. This zoo is just north of town on the N125, and provides
a complete day of fun for all the family. There is not just animals
and animal shows, but also a fairground, pool, play area and a
restaurant, but there is also many other areas in which to picnic.
Slide and Splash
Another great day out of the resort is to be found here, just
north of the town. There are many slides, tubes, rapids and pools,
and as it is so large it doesn't get over crowded. There is a
café, and many grassy areas in which to enjoy a snack.
Albufeira Castle
The castle was destoroyed by an earthquake in 1755, but the remains
provide a good understanding of how the castle would have looked.
It provides some of the history of the Moorish occupation, as
does the architecture of the surrounding town. It is worth visiting
to see some of the Portuguese culture and history
