Marineland
Just ten minutes drive from Palma, this award-winning marine zoo
is a great day out for children and adults alike. Famed for its
amazing dolphin shows Marineland also boasts an impressive collection
of birds, fish and even sharks.
Time it right and you
may even get to see the dolphin and sea lion shows (daily at 11.30am
and 3.30pm) for an unforgettable, if slightly soggy, experience!
And if you fancy a break from all that animal activity the tranquil
Costa d'en Blanes beach is just a short stroll away.
Tito's Night Club
For the hot summer nights we recommend this time a visit to the most famous and exclusive Disco in Mallorca.
The entrance alone is already spectacular. A glass elevator brings you from the Paseo Maritimo into the 2.000
capacity Tito's. Fantastic Light-Shows, Go-Go-Girls and hot music await you. It's not unusual to bump into
prominent guests such as Michael Douglas or Boris Becker at the bar. However don't arrive until well after
midnight or you'll be dancing alone.
Es
Trenc Beach
Described as the'Maldives of the Balearics' Es Trenc beach has
to be seen to be believed. With white sands and turquoise sea
as far as the eye can see, the gently sloping beach of this sheltered
cove makes it an ideal location for families with young children.
The scattering of cafes serving food and welcome refreshments offer shelter from the midday sun, or you can hire a straw-fringed beach umbrella to relax in style
Bellver
Castle
Situated on the hillside in the thick pine forests surrounding
Palma, Bellver Castle is an imposing counterbalance to the Gothic
grace of the more well-known cathedral. Forty years in the making
the castle was built by King Jamie as a place to recover from
tuberculosis, but has since been used a prison and, more recently,
a museum of archaeology and painting.
The name itself translates to 'beautiful view' and it really is
worth the climb for the stunning views to be had over the island.
Soller
Railway
Enjoy a novel journey to the picturesque town of Soller on a vintage
railway. Travel through the orange grove flanked by the mountains
and the sea and enjoy the scenery with this relaxed mode of transport.
Once arrived at your destination indulge yourself with some of the tempting specialities of parties and ice-cream before exploring some of the finest examples of modern architecture on the island.
Tropical
Park Jumaica
Quite an unexpected surprise in the normally arid landscape of Majorca, the Jumaica Tropical Park is a lush oasis of bamboo, rare plants and trees. The owners spent 22 years transforming the normally desert-like ground into 25,000 square metres of tropical green plants and free flying exotic birds.
It really is like stepping into another world and well worth a visit; the park is open daily during the summer months from 10am to 4.30pm.
For true relaxation, head to the beach where you can while away the days on golden sands overlooking
the soothing Mediterranean sea. With nothing more strenuous on your mind then applying suntan lotion
and choosing your next ice-cream, you will quickly feel yourself relax into the casual rhythm of island life.
If you fancy something a bit more energetic head out to one of the resorts many fantastic water parks where
you can work up an appetite in the splash pools and slides. If the midday sun gets too hot, nature lovers
can immerse themselves in one of the cool verdant forests scattered over Majorca. The volcanic skyline and
ancient tress give way to bright blue skies filled with tropical birds and amazing views over the whole island.
