Corralejo
Corralejo is one of the livliest resorts on Fuerteventura with
lots of bustlings restaurants, bars and clubs along the main street
in the centre.
Just outside the town is a seven mile stretch of sandy beach.
The town is also a great base for exploring and has great views
of Lanzarote and the island of Lobos.
Lobos
- "The Island of Wolves"
Take the short boat trip to Lobos from Corralejo. Lobos was originally
called "the Island of Wolves" because of the colonies
of sea wolves that lived on the island.
It is virtually uninhabited and has a beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear water. There is a great restaurant on the island at El Puertito (little port).
The climb up the Caldera de la Montana is quite steep, but the views are well
worth it.
Dolphin watching at Caleta del Fuste
Caleta is a busy, popular town only 10km from the airport with
a laid-back atmosphere and many restaurants to choose from.
Although it was purpose built for tourists it has an old-style
charm.
This is where you should head to if you fancy whale watching,
or swimming with dolphins. There are daily trips from the harbour.
The rocks around the town are home to chipmunks - take some pistachio nuts with you to feed them.
Little beach with a difference
The black volcanic sand at the small village of Ajuy, only twenty
minutes drive from Pajara, makes this a beach with a difference.
This is a little resort with the restaurants and bars hugging the beach.
Most visitors are drawn to Ajuy to explore the caves and abandoned huts built into the rock face.
In the right weather conditions, this is a good place to see
the wreck of the huge Ocean-going liner, American Star.

waves and clear blue water make the island a paradise for surfers

There are over 150 beaches along the island's coastline, they
are a mixture of fine, white sand and black volcanic shingle.
The island was created from a series of volcanic eruptions thousands
of years ago and this has produced a memorably dramatic hilly
landscape.
